Drake Dominates The iTunes Year-End List

Plenty of us might’ve thought that Drake’s album Views was overcooked, indulgent, and way too long, but none of those things stopped the album from doing what Drake wanted it to do. By any metric, Drake absolutely dominated 2016 commercially. He’s Spotify’s most-streamed artist for the second year running, and he pulled down an Album Of The Year Grammy nomination. And today, we learn that he completely owns the year-end iTunes chart, too.

As the Associated Press reports, Views was the biggest-selling album of 2016 on iTunes; it edges out Rihanna’s  Anti, Adele’s 25, Frank Ocean’s Blonde, and Justin Bieber’s Purpose. Meanwhile, Drake’s “One Dance” is the biggest-selling iTunes single of the year; it has defeated Justin Timberlake’s “Can’t Stop This Feeling,” Rihanna’s Drake collab “Work,” Flo Rida’s “My House,” and Lukas Graham’s “7 Years.” There is no word on who all these people buying “My House” were.

Meanwhile, Drake’s OVO flagship store is about to open in New York. That’ll probably make a bunch of money, too.
